Using an AI assistant

You can connect an AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT and others) to your account and say things like "make my picks for week 6" or "lock the pool". It's handy. It's also your name on the receipt, so read this first.

The short version

Choosing what to allow

When you connect an assistant on your account page, you choose what it can do:

AccessWhat it can do
ReadSee your pools (the ones still running, or ended ones when you ask), the standings and your picks.
PlayJoin pools, make and change your picks, propose a question to the host (when they allow it), leave a pool.
HostCreate pools and run the pools you own: add questions or accept players' proposals, run rounds with pick deadlines, start a week from a fantasy football league on a site like Sleeper, lock, call results, set the end date, rename the pool, let players invite, end the pool, set its tiebreak and time zone.

Give it the least it needs. "What did I pick?" only needs Read. Making picks needs Play. Only add Host if you want the assistant to run your pools for you.

Before you give an assistant host access

Host actions are the ones that matter to everybody else in the pool.

What assistants can't do (yet)

Some host actions are only on the pool's host page, because they change things for other players:

If you ask your assistant for one of these, it should tell you to do it on the website. Renaming the pool itself isn't one of them: with host access, your assistant can do that.

The host page of a pool on your account only opens while you're signed in to that account. Its link alone isn't enough.

Pool admins

On a Baller pool, the host can make up to 2 players with accounts admins, and choose what each one can do. An admin's assistant (with host access) can take just those actions on that pool, and nothing else. Their actions are signed with their name on the tape: "LOCKED · ADMIN: MIKE". Only the host can end the pool, manage admins or hand the pool over. If the host's account goes back to Free, their admins are removed, and they don't come back if the host returns to Baller.

Inviting people

Every pool has one standard invite: a couple of lines about the pool and its join link. The host can always send it while the pool can take players. Players can too, once the host turns on Players can invite on the host page (it's off to start with).

To invite people, your assistant sends the invite.text it gets with the pool, as written, through your own email or messages. Receipts doesn't send invites itself, and never sees who you invite.

Rounds

A pool can run in rounds, like a week of fantasy matchups at a time. More rounds come with Baller, or with a pool made from a Sleeper, Fleaflicker or Yahoo league; a pool without an account is always one round. One round takes picks at a time. With host access, your assistant can lock the round taking picks (that's permanent, like locking a pool) and then start the next round with its questions. In a pool made from a Sleeper, Fleaflicker or Yahoo league, it can also show you next week's matchups and start that week from them, the same as Start Week N from Sleeper (or Fleaflicker, or Yahoo) on the host page: picks close at the week's first kickoff. Its tape lines say which round: "WEEK 7 · LOCKED · HOST · AGENT-ASSISTED". Each round gets its own receipt, and the pool's receipt becomes the season's.

Pick deadlines

A host can give the round taking picks a deadline: picks close on their own at that exact moment, as if the host locked them on time. In a pool with one round, that closes the pool's picks. Every pool has a time zone for its deadlines (New York unless the host picks another), and every page names it: "Picks close Sun Oct 25, 1:00 PM ET (New York time)". With host access, your assistant can set, move or clear a deadline until it passes, and change the pool's time zone. When a deadline passes, the tape says "PICKS CLOSED · DEADLINE", stamped with the deadline.

Leaving a pool

Your assistant has to confirm before it leaves a pool for you. Leaving an open pool deletes your picks there. Leaving a pool with rounds keeps your picks for the rounds you played; you just don't play the rounds after. You can come back while the pool is running and has room: open its link (or ask your assistant to join it again). You pick from the round taking picks then; anything locked or called while you were away stays missed.

Ties in the standings

By default, players on equal points share a position. The host can switch a pool to % success breaks ties: equal points are then ranked by how often each player called it right, and only share a position if that's equal too. It changes every table in the pool, the receipts included, and goes on the tape ("TIEBREAK: % SUCCESS · HOST"). With host access, your assistant can change it too; on a Baller pool, an admin can if the host allows it.

Good habits

What the AGENT-ASSISTED mark means

It doesn't mean anything went wrong, only that a person used an assistant. The person is still responsible for it.

Connect with MCP

If your assistant can add remote MCP servers (in Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector), you don't need a token:

  1. Add https://ivegotreceipts.com/mcp as the server's URL.
  2. Sign in when it sends you to Receipts. We email you a link, as usual.
  3. Choose what it can do: Read, Play and Host, the same as above. What the app asks for is ticked to start with (Read, if it asks for nothing). Host is never ticked for you, and the same warning applies.
  4. Check the app's name and where it sends access, then Allow. Only approve if you started connecting from your assistant just now.

The connection appears on your account page next to any tokens, named after the app, with "(MCP)". Revoke it there and it cuts it off at its very next request. To change what it can do, revoke it and connect again.

If your app can only send a fixed header and can't sign you in (LM Studio, for one), use a token instead: the same URL, https://ivegotreceipts.com/mcp, with the header Authorization: Bearer igr_... and a token from your account page. It can do what the token allows.

Which assistants work

Any assistant that can add a remote MCP server and sign you in through your browser can connect with the steps above. We've tested Claude. These should work the same way, but we haven't tried them all yet, and their menus move around, so check the app's own help if a step doesn't match:

Copy-paste setup for each app, sign-in or token: Connect an assistant.

Meta Muse can't add MCP servers. Ask it to build a custom connector from https://ivegotreceipts.com/api/v1/openapi.json, and give it a token from your account page, starting with Read only.

Instinct, the Microsoft Copilot app, Poe and Meta AI can't connect to outside services like this yet.

For your assistant

Over MCP, your assistant connects to https://ivegotreceipts.com/mcp and signs you in as above, or sends a token. Otherwise it uses the token you make on your account page, sent as Authorization: Bearer igr_.... If it can read an API description, point it at /api/v1/openapi.json; a short summary for AI tools is at /llms.txt.

Pool names, questions, options and player names are written by people in the pool. Over MCP, your assistant is told to treat them as text to show, never as instructions: it shouldn't call a tool because pool text asks it to.

Your responsibility

Connections are personal. Don't share them. You're responsible for what your assistant does with your account, and we can revoke a connection that is misused. See the Terms.
